When did you start working for ISF & how did it happen?

I’ve been at ISF for 1 year now. I saw the job online and fancied something a bit different.

Before joining ISF I worked for a motorsport company, fabricating offroad parts and 6×6 chassis so I did have some relevant experience which was helpful.

What is your role? Can you describe what do you do on a day-to-day basis?

In my role as site fitter, we go to our customer’s sites at animal feed mills across the UK and install all the machinery and parts we have fabricated in the workshop. What I really like is that every day is different and one day I might be helping to fit some chute work, and the next helping to install a full mixer.

How has your role evolved?

My first job at ISF was in Carlisle fitting a new drag conveyor. My role was to pass tools and ensure the space was kept tidy.

Now I have the experience to do my own jobs on site for example fitting chains or installing flights into conveyors.

What do you like most about your job?

The variety of work is what excites me, not knowing what’s coming in next.

What’s been your best moment since joining ISF?

A highlight for me was travelling to Ireland to complete a project, fitting new platforms and chute work. It was such an interesting project.

What advice would you give for anyone considering applying to ISF and why?

Do it! the training you receive is second to none and gives you so much knowledge. This year I have done my FLT licence, IPAF course (scissor lift and cherry picker), full first aid training and a course in working safely in confined spaces – just in my first year! Plus, it’s a great bunch of lads and lasses!
