Constant Wearing of Pneumatic Pipe Bends Solved for ISF's Client

In this case study, ISF York's customer had an issue with constant wearing of pneumatic pipe bends by abrasive materials being blown along the pipes. Dust and product was being blown outside the piping, which was ultimately causing a significant a health and safety problem.

These replacement pneumatic pipe bends can often be difficult to install and therefore are often replaced by tape or a temporary repair, e.g. having a steel plate welded on. Such a process is often dangerous, due to on site welding causing issues such as dust explosions.

This client had its problem solved through ISF carrying out modifications, changing the pipe work and incorporating a light weight Polymer cast elbow bend - particularly suitable for abrasive products. Ultimately, these new elbow bends result in a different type of turbulence in the bend with the product wearing against itself and not the pipe wall. This area was also designed to self-clean, meaning that no residue is left in the bend and it is virtually wear resistant!
